A Fragment Of A Memmory, sometime around the summer of 1997.
It was was night by the time we went to Hollywood, driving up the long twisting road called Sunset Boulevard. We stopped at a gas station and asked for directions on how to get to the the famous SIGN. Someone there said the road to the observatory was closed though... After that we drove up onto the hill above that part of town, to try and get a better view of the downtown skyline. Houses packed in such a dense way as to prevent even seeing past them to a more distant view - would have required me to walk up a private driveway. Declining that, I walked back to the car and started making plans to get back to the coast highway. We drove until very late and finally stopped at a pull-out and slept in the car until morning.
